Cheetah Update

For anyone who cares I am still fighting the big bad cheetah. I have been working my debt snowball now for about a year and am not making the progress I would like. I have to date paid off 3 credit cards and am on my way to #4 which should be gone by the middle of July if not sooner. I have taken my big 3 cards and combined them with a fixed rate of 2.99% I am planning on putting a minimum of $1000 a month on these while I still will be working on the 3 smaller debts. I am so excited about being debt free but still lose focus some when I see a cute pair of shoes or a great shirt on sale. I still need to get the darn budget in line, if I could get that done I could move a lot faster at this, oh well maybe a project for the day. Hope you all are well out there and if you haven't already cut up those cards already!

Credit cards are not the problem. Kind of like guns, they don't kill people, people kill people. You should carry one card to help you rent a room on vacation, a rental car, or any of the accidents that pop up. The trick is to aggressively pay them off as soon as possible, preferably each month. To me, they are like an IRA, I have them and know they are there but don't use them unless I have to. I do use a debit card on my business account and purchase gas on the main checking account with a debit card. Good luck on your goals. Wait until you owe nothing, even on your house. It will empower you in ways you never thought possible. Don't forget to pay yourself with a 401k or some vehicle for later. It is a great feeling to be in retirement with more income than outgo. MUD
